Taylor 2

Drawing on the innovation of Paul Taylor, one of the most critically acclaimed choreographers in the world, dance troupe Taylor 2 will perform dance that communicates personal stories and sensual themes at IU Auditorium on February 1.

Taylor 2 is made up of six talented dancers, allowing them to easily travel the world showcasing unrivaled modern dance technique. As a small troupe, Taylor 2 is able to perform more intimately at theaters and non-traditional venues as well as teach master classes and give lecture demonstrations.

Paul Taylor is the last living member of the pantheon that created America’s indigenous art of modern dance. Since his first works in 1954, Taylor has engineered dance through his use of awe-inspiring topics, such as man’s place within the natural world and human love and sexuality. His dances are set to soundtracks that boast a wide range of sounds, from ragtime and rock to Bach and hysterical laughter.

Formed in 1993, Taylor 2 supplements the Paul Taylor Dance Company, Taylor’s original group of 16 expert dancers. In selecting repertoire for Taylor 2, Taylor chooses dances that span the broad spectrum of his work and feature the athleticism, humor, and range of emotions of each dancer.

This beautifully transcendent performance combines the fearlessness and skill of the gifted dancers with Paul Taylor’s unrivaled ingenuity, under the direction of Ruth Andrien.
