Ross Gay, an American Poet at The Venue
On Tuesday, September 25th, beginning at 5:30pm, The Venue Fine Art & Gifts will host a poetry reading by Ross Gay.
Ross is the award winning author of two collections of poetry, Against Which, (2006) and Bringing the Shovel Down (2011). His poems have appeared in many journals and magazines including American Poetry Review, Harvard Review, Columbia: A Journal of Poetry and Art, The American Journal of Poetry and Atlanta Review, and in several anthologies.
Ross received his B.A. from Lafayette College, his MFA in poetry from Sarah Lawrence College, and his Ph.D. in American Literature from Temple University. He has taught poetry, art and literature at Lafayette College in Easton, PA and Montclair State University in New Jersey, and now teaches in the Creative Writing Section of the English Department at Indiana University in Bloomington. He's on the board of directors for the Bloomington Community Orchard, and also teaches kettle bell weightlifting classes, “here and there too.”
Ross’s poetry is sensual, provocative, evocative, and thoughtful. It is about life, in its many facets. As a reader of his own work, Ross is dynamic and entertaining. This reading will be a special treat. Learn why great poetry endures.
The Venue’s fine selection of fine art, jewelry, ceramics, and other gifts will be on display and available. Refreshments will be provided by The Venue and free parking is available in the lot on the corner of 4th and Grant.

TIME: 5:30 p.m.
