MONROE COUNTY CIVIC THEATRE TO PRESENT NEWEST VERSION OF MUSICAL, WORKING, BASED ON BOOK BY STUDS TERKEL
Praised on its release for its penetrating depth, and honest representation of the working man’s voice, Studs Terkel’s ‘Working’ -- a massive collection of interviews collected across the country, and across the full range of occupations -- was first adapted to the musical stage in 1978, with original songs by writers from Stephen Schwartz to James Taylor. Now, a newly revised version of ‘Working’, featuring two new musical numbers by Tony-Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, comes to life in a production presented by Monroe County Civic Theatre.
Directed by Bloomington artist Eric Anderson, Jr, this production of ‘Working’ brings together a cast of seventeen local performers, from a variety of backgrounds and professions, to celebrate the dignity of the working man, for four performances only, over Labor Day Weekend.
Performances will take place at the Bloomington Playwrights Project --
